The builder was buying uncompleted houses and recycling the bricks. However they reported he was working with Uncle 'Dark' mum's brother Alexander Mclaren. This period may have been after the bus work and around the time they were married. Dad did have a Union medalion labelled TWU dated 1936 and number 4. |

Employer: Sydney Transport Note: Dad met mum on the bus from Kingsgrove via Canterbury Rd to Belmore Railway Station. Dad was working as a conductor and mum had started work at Slazengers in Mascot painting the line decoration on wooden tennis rackets. Dad was later promoted to bus driver. |

Address: 71 Linda St, Belmore Note: By 1939 dad was employed by Permewan Wrights as a ham curer and butcher. Dad attempted to enlist however, was rejected as his work as a butcher was protected. He often told the story of loading one of the Queens up with meat for the British. It was his first experience of drive through. he drove his Butcher Truck inside the ship, the meat was unloaded and he drove out another hatch. |

Address: 9 Forsythe St, Belmore Note: In the period 1943 to 1948 Dad and mum opened a Produce Store at 477 Stoney Creek Rd, Bexley. They took as a partner, Len Tregenza. Mum and Dad both worked at Bexley, Grandma cared for me at Forsythe Street. The empty block at the back of Forsythe St, was the bulk storage yard with gravel, sand, coal, etc stored there. |
